Sharon, Open Google Maps and enter: 35.309503, -84.037208 in the search box. That will show you just about where you'll park your car at Whigg Meadow. Google Maps can then give you directions to that location. Regards, Bates EstabrooksAnderson County Date: Wed, 20 Aug 2014 14:46:14 -0400 Subject: [TN-Bird] Re: Whigg Meadow? From: sbm4him@xxxxxxxxx CC: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxx So, can anyone provide exact directions for getting to Whigg Meadow? I'd never even heard of it before, but it sounds like a great place and I'd love to try to get there during the banding period. I've found the general location, but it says it's "a few miles" off the Cherohala Skyway "via a gravel road" and I feel like I might need a few more specifics to actually find it. :D Sharon MonettKnoxville, TN On Wed, Aug 20, 2014 at 12:55 PM, Scott Somershoe <ssomershoe@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: We will be running Whigg daily from Saturday August 30 through Saturday September 28. Visitors are welcome anytime. Nets are open from 7a-3p. For those that don't know, David Vogt "retired" from coordinating Whigg last year and somehow I got swindled into coordinating it! David is still a regular bander, just with no extra responsibilities now (must be nice!). So this is my second year coordinating and the 17th consecutive year for Whigg. This year will very interesting since significant habitat work has been done on and around the netting area, which will likely not only increase our captures but is also going to be good for breeding Golden-winged Warblers. We've taken advantage of this change to ask some specific questions about habitat and bird captures. I can't wait to get up there in a couple weeks! What dates this year will the Whigg Meadow bending station be up and running? Also, what are the rules, so to speak, about visiting and observing? Thanks. Bates Estabrooks Anderson Cnty.
