I recently acquired, through amazon.com, a copy of Brian Wheeler's new book, "Raptors of Eastern North America" and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in birding. It would be particularly appropriate at this hawk-watching time of year. The text is extensive (encyclopedic), the maps are excellent, but most impressive are Brian's photographs. They are superb quality (better than any previous photo-based field guide I've seen), and comprehensively represent each species (82 pics. for red-tails, alone). Good birding.
