I had a slight yellow jacket problem a couple weeks ago (only one yellow jacket but the hummers were reluctant to use the feeder with it there). I moved the feeder a few feet to a new location and the yellow jacket has not returned as yet. Now I have ants in it. It is a little plastic saucer type feeder with an ant moat that the chickadees like to drink from. Maybe I need to refill the moat with water more often because it hasn't deterred the ants. I just ignore them and figure the hummers are getting some added protein. They don't seem to notice the ants.
