Feb. 24-25, 2012 Shelby Co, TN Tunica Co, MS Traveling to all corners of Shelby Co, produced 25 species of waterfowl, no Long-tailed Duck but relocated missing Black Scoter. Nest building was seen at every turn with Killdeer starting even in January now having nests with full compliments of eggs. Both Crow species carrying nesting material and a Horned Lark gathering material to line an excavation. Another hawk found with gunshot wound in Tunica Co, MS. Still lots of gulls, Franklin's, Lesser Black-backed and Thayer's in the mix and waterfowl scattered but still entertaining. A few photos of the tragic find and of nesting and foraging skills this weekend at: _http://www.pbase.com/ol_coot/image/141786637_ (http://www.pbase.com/ol_coot/image/141786637) Good Birding!!!
