On Friday, November 4 two golf course maintenance workers told me they saw an
Osprey. I said are you sure it was not a hawk. I had not seen one in a couple
of weeks and it was really late for one. Then they told of watching it dive
into the water and came up with a fish. Then it flew toward a woods on the
other side of the fairway from the lake at which time it pretty much stopped in
mid air. Out came one of the two Bald Eagles that have been seen at the course
most days for over two years (except seldom during the summer). They said the
eagle chased the Osprey until it dropped the fish. Then the eagle swooped down
and caught the fish before it hit the water. About an hour later I did indeed
see the Osprey and even later saw the eagle. No wonder Osprey hate Bald Eagles
so much.
