A 68k [VA-bird] e-mail received entitled "Gustav gone" had an attachement that was scanned & the W32.BugBear virus was found. Another non-birding 68k e-mail received on a separate account had an attachment that was scanned with this same virus. So anyone receiving a strange 68k e-mail, beware! Delete it immediately, or at least scan it for viruses. On 10/2 my company issued info re: this latest nasty virus: W32.BugBear This new blended-threat mass-mailing worm is spreading rapidly across the internet. It affects unpatched version of Internet Explorer, captures passwords, and runs a trojan on the affected PC that can allow hackers unlimited access. While your mailbox is protected from this virus, many of you have personal email accounts and computers connected to the internet. This message is a reminder: * If you do not have anti-virus protection at home and are on the internet, obtain some. * If you have anti-virus protection, make sure the virus definitions are up to date. * If you use Internet Explorer, be sure you have applied the latest security patches.
