Please pardon the late post. On Saturday, June 5, 2004 fourteen members of the Knoxville Chapter of TOS converged on Mossy Creek Wildlife Viewing Area in Jefferson City, TN. to look for the Warbling Vireo previously reported by Dean Edwards and Howard Chitwood. (Please see Dean's previous post for explicit directions, or you may e-mail or call me at 865-828-6302). We quickly found the pair of Vireos in the large Hickory tree between the paved path and the road, all as mentioned in previous posts. Kim Henry located the nest in the lower left hand portion of the tree, in about the 7:30 position. We were able to watch the adults feeding several babies in the nest, but never got a completely accurate count of the young birds. Other birds of note were Bank Swallows and Wood Ducks with young.
