4/14/2010 McKenzie area (Henry Co) I finally got out for my first morning of local birding in almost 3 months, following too much work and a fantastic trip to Brazil (more later). I checked my usual warbler route in southwest Henry Co, both to see what is in and to see what habitat changes have happened since last spring; luckily minimal. I had 11 species of warblers on the morning, with all but a couple of the expected locally breeding species for that area accounted for (no Swainson's or Kentucky yet). Prairie Warblers were thick already, with 20+ heard or seen. Highlights: Broad-winged Hawk 1 (FOY) White-eyed Vireo 5 (FOY) Yellow-throated Vireo 4 (FOY) Red-eyed Vireo 2 (FOY) Northern Parula 15 (FOY) Yellow-rumped Warbler 3 Yellow-throated Warbler 6 (FOY) Pine Warbler 8 Prairie Warbler 20 (FOY) Black & White Warbler 2 (FOY) Prothonotary Warbler 6 (FOY) Worm-eating Warbler 4 (FOY) LA Waterthrush 4 (FOY) Common Yellowthroat 2 (FOY) Hooded Warbler 3 (FOY) I've started a new gallery for Spring 2010, with a few shots of a Parula and Worm-eating from yesterday. If interested, first image is here: http://www.pbase.com/mctodd/image/123632999/original I'm working on a ton of shots from Brazil, split between a week of birding the Atlantic Forest near Rio, and a week in the southern Pantanal. Amazing birds, I will post when these are ready. Good Birding!!
