As expected, lots of activity in the yard this AM (4 Sept, west Knox Co) following the front. Rather chilly as well and I actually broke out a flannel shirt. Not a lot of species but best numbers of individual warblers I've had here in quite a while. Couldn't lift the binocs without seeing a Magnolia or Tennessee. Had my first migrant thrushes of the fall with Veery and Swainson's... both new early dates for the yard. The thrushes were checking out the Black Gum berries but they still look green to me. Everything had died down by 8:30. Numbers below are approximate. Tennessee, 10+ Magnolia, 15+ Blackburnian, ~5 Chestnut-sided, ~3 Redstart, ~5 including 1 adult male Hooded, 1 female Veery, 1, new early date by 7 days Swainson's Thrush, 1, new early date by 5 days C Nighthawk, 4 E Wood-Pewee, at least 2 Red-eyed Vireo, 1 Blue-grey Gnatcatcher, 1-2 Ruby-throated Hummingbird, swarms Dean Edwards Knoxville, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
