Walter S. Davis Blvd Marsh

This Friday morning I made my usual stop at the Walter S. Davis Blvd
Marsh on the backside of the TSU campus. A check of the OSPREY nest
across the street and atop a huge light pole next to the softball
field showed that unlike past visits, there was only one youngster
there. A quick search found mom and the presumably older youngster
on nearby light poles. Mom was encouraging the remaining nestling
by calling to it. It took some practice flaps but apparently has not
taken it maiden flight.
At the marsh there was a single SOLITARY SANDPIPER, and as I was
watching the OSPREY, I saw a LEAST SANDPIPER land in the grass
next to calling KILLDEER. Unfortunately, it stayed less than a
minute before flying off toward the Cumberland River.
