This Monday morning on my way to work I stopped at the marsh next
to TSU on Walter S. Davis Blvd. Some of the lake water has evaporated
so there is a fair amount of mud, but no other shorebirds besides the
usual good sized flock of KILLDEER were found. However, as I scanned
the reeds on the right I found an AMERICAN BITTERN near the far right
edge, standing at the bank of a small rivulet that runs out into the
lake. This is the earliest in the fall that I've seen one here at the
marsh.
