I went out to Old Hickory Lake (Davidson Co.) see if the storm blew anything interesting in... not much of note, but the White-winged Scoter is still hanging out with the raft of ~20 Ruddy Ducks on the upstream side of the Dam. The bird was much closer today, and allowed decent record shots (I'd be glad to send them to those interested). Only Gulls I found amongst the thousands of Ring-billed were 5 Herring (all 1st and 2nd year birds), and a dozen or so Bonaparte's diving off Snow Bunting Peninsula. Also noticed that the Horned Grebes (17 total) are starting to get some breeding plummage. Red-breasted Nuthatches also present still in the pines on the Nature Trail near the Dam, and the Bald Eagle nest (a distant view from the road) had an adult in the nest, as well as an adult perched a few feet higher... Good birding, Ed Schneider Whites Creek Davidson Co. =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
