Today was my day to pick up birds at the WSMV tower here in Nashville. Below is the list of 19 birds that I found. One of the Magnolias was still alive. I took it back to the Warner Parks Nature Center, where it was eventually released, although apparently still not in great shape. This is a pretty high number in recent years; my highest personal day was around 50 one day last year. However, compared to the early years of the project in the 60s, when hundreds and even thousands in one night were not uncommon, it's a paltry number. A very sobering thought.
