Certainly not going to be on the cover of a magazine but I posted a digiscope photo of the Western Grebe I had on Cherokee Lake Sunday. In my defense, it was taken from about 1/2 mile away in fading light. Not the greatest for distinguishing between Western/Clark's but I think it does show the extent of the black around the eye. Hopefully someone else will get the bird too and get some better photos. http://www-chaos.engr.utk.edu/~kde/pictmp/DSC00966.JPG A couple of notes: This is the 5th grebe species I've had around Cherokee Dam (Pied-billed, Horned, Eared, Red-necked, and now Western). On the Brewer's Blackbirds, I said they flew west, that should have been 'east'. Got turned around in my haste to post.
