Cocklebur and Mud Lake
Shelby Co. TN

The first trip down the levee produced nothing but a return late in the
afternoon produced 14 immature White Ibis and 6 Wood Storks. The birds flew in
from the west, out of Cocklebur Lake area and east over Mud Lake. I think
they settled in the east end of Mud Lake but could not see them through the
trees. The Mississippi River is still high and these birds were probably
just coming to roost early but the water is still too high in these two
areas for them to forage, the open trees make for good roosting sites as in
years past.
