Douglas Lake elevation: 961', starting to flood Dutch Bottoms

RANKIN -dry as toast;  from Rankin Bridge :

TEN ISLANDS ( by canoe from Leadvale to Walters Bridge):
Canada Goose (12)
Mallard (7)
EARED GREBE (4) - first record, to our knowledge, on upper Douglas Lake
Great blue heron (5)
Osprey
Killdeer (15)
Ring-billed gull (5)
Tree swalow (2)
Am. pipit (5)

LEEPERS FERRY RD.(Hamblen county):
Wood duck (25)
Blue-winged teal (3)
Redhead (2)
Ring-necked duck (10)

DUTCH BOTTOMS:
Green-winged teal (3)
Great blue heron (15
Killdeer (5)
-and combined in one good-sized, early flock:
Least sandpiper (62)
& Pectoral sandpiper (60)

Note on Dutch Bottoms:  Access to the viewing area across from Dutch Bottoms 
Church is now blocked by a fence.  The area has been impounded by a 
developer.  Dutch Bottoms can still be viewed from points of the shoulder 
along the road, and entered via 2 rough access roads at each end.
