Join the NTOS this Saturday, December 7, as Chris Sloan leads the group to various locations around Percy Priest Lake. If you would like to carpool, please be in the lower parking lot of the Adventure Science at 7:30 A.M. If you are not interested in carpooling, please be at the upper parking lot at Percy Priest Dam no later than 8:00 A.M. There are several different hotspots around the lake where loons, diving ducks, dabbling ducks, grebes, and more, can be found. As a bonus, there's also a great chance that a rarity can be found (and everyone loves a rarity)! The trip will most likely last no later than early afternoon, so bring snacks and a drink. If you have a scope, feel free to bring it as well. According to the meteorologists, there is a good chance the weather could be icy, so dress extra warmly since the wind from the lake will add to the cold temperature. Finally, due to the possible bad weather, please check TN-bird before you leave Saturday morning. A decision will be made no later than 6:30 A.M as to whether the trip will take place or not. If there is no post, the trip will still take place. Directions to the upper parking lot at Percy Priest Dam are below. Hope you can join us! Directions to the upper parking lot at Percy Priest Dam: From I-24 take the exit for I-40 East towards Knoxville. After about 5.5 miles take exit 219 for Stewarts Ferry Pike towards J. Percy Priest Dam. Keep right at the fork, following signs for Percy Priest Dam, and merge onto Stewarts Ferry Pike. Turn left onto Blackwood Drive. Continue on Bell Road, going past the parking lot at the information/visitors center entrance to the other parking lot on the other side of the dam. The parking lot will be on your right.
