Dear Tn-birders and interested supporters: There is now a way for any individual to contribute to the USFWS Reward Fund for the November 2013 shooting deaths of the Hopkins Co. Whooping Cranes. While USFWS accepts pledges from organizations and large groups they do not have the staff capability to manage individual pledges. However, Operation Migration accepts donations (both credit card and check) to the reward fund. Details on how to go about contributing are posted on the Kentucky Coalition for Sandhill Cranes site. kyc4sandhillcranes.com <http://kyc4sandhillcranes.com/> Individuals need to indicate in the notes box that their donation is for the REWARD FUND. https://secure.operationmigration.org/np/clients/om/donation.jsp If contributing by check please write REWARD FUND on the memo line. According to Heather Ray of Operation Migration, the designated donations will be held in a reward fund for the Kentucky killings until such a time they need to be paid. If no one comes forward in the Kentucky killings the money will be used towards a reward in any other WHCR killings that may happen. If after 5 years, when the statute of limitations ends for prosecution in the KY case, and no rewards have been offered, the donations will be used by Operation Migration for education and outreach to teach about Whooping Cranes. Please consider joining the efforts by USFWS in the apprehension and conviction of the thrill-killer. Those were OUR Whooping Cranes that were shot and killed. Anyone with information about the killings is urged to contact Special Agent Bob Snow at (502) 582-5989, ext. 29 <tel:%28502%29%20582-5989%2C%20ext.%2029> , or the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources dispatch at 1-800-25ALERT (800-252-5378 <tel:%28800-252-5378> ). <") ( \ / |` Cyndi Routledge ³Wild beasts and birds are by right not the property merely of the people who are alive today, but the property of unknown generations, whose belongings we have NO right to squander². ~ Theodore Roosevelt
