That makes 2 new species this year, Hudsonian Godwit was the other. Next on the missing list for that site: Whimbrel. David Kirschke & I put in near Leadvale, then traveled west past the RR trestle & scoped clusters of bird at the north end of Ten Islands. David picked out a Tricolored Heron in a line of Great Egrets - the light belly was evident, even at a distance in fading light. Trip spectacle: more than 200 egrets gathering in the shallows as we turned back. Also: Semipalmated plover (12) Greater yellowlegs (15) Lesser yellowlegs (8) Semipalm. sandpiper (12) Least sandpiper (5) Pectoral sandpiper (15) Stilt sandpiper (4) Screech owl, in the road as I was leaving.
