Subject: [TN-Bird] The Slough Revisited

On this bright spring-like day

Driving south on North Watkins,

Observing the trees

With their new leaves and catkins,

On approaching the slough,

I gave it glance,

Not really hopeful.,

just on the off chance

That something unusual

Might be in store

It's not that far-fetched,

It's happened before.

In a tall cypress tree

O'er the tan, flooded water

A long tail, a curved neck!

Could that be a Darter??????

A quick turn around

For a much closer peek,

A white patch of wing!

And a bayonet beak!

Sure enough, there it is!

By gosh and by jinga!

At the Watkins Street Slough

There is an Anhinga!
