Tennessee Birders (and non-Tennesseans who bird Tennessee), I need your help. As editor of The Migrant, the journal of the Tennessee Ornithological Society, I'm in need of material for the journal. The Migrant has been behind schedule for years. I'm trying to catch up. The September 2001 issue should be in TOS member mail boxes by now, and I expect to have the December 2001 issue out by Thanksgiving. I had high hopes of trying to put the March 2002 issue out in December 2002 (hey, a 2002 issue in 2002, is that legal?), and maybe even reaching my ultimate goal of having the March 2004 issue come out in March of 2004. Unfortunately, all my grand plans are for naught if folks who observe and study birds in Tennessee don't submit manuscripts and short notes documenting their observations. This e-mail is a plea to all of you to consider writing up and submitting details regarding interesting sightings. I know there are new records for many counties and even first or second state sightings that have never been written up. Notes can be as short as a paragraph or two. Reviews of the status of birds with rapidly changing populations (increasing or decreasing) would also be of interest to many readers. You don't have to be a professional ornithologist to make meaningful contributions to the knowledge of Tennessee birds. The Migrant has a long history. I'd like to keep it going. I know it takes time to put thoughts on paper, but please make the effort. Thanks, Chris Welsh Editor, The Migrant Knoxville, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Topographical Maps located at http://topozone.com/find.asp * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Tennessee Ornithological Society web site at http://www.tnbirds.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net Owner: Wallace Coffey, Bristol, TN jwcoffey@xxxxxxxxxx (423) 764-3958 =========================================================
