[TN-Bird] TWRC sandhill crane meetings

The  final vote has not taken place, however, the TWRC's Wildlife 
Management  Committee met yesterday and recommended that the hunting of 
sandhill 
cranes be  put on hold for two years until more information can be learned 
about 
this  population. Generally  the Commission vote follows the 
recommendations of the committees; however this  is not the final decision.    
 
The  presentations were impressive.  I was very glad I could be there to 
hear  them.  Melinda Welton covered the issues well;  Chris Sloan and many 
others added very effective comments.  The  final decision is scheduled to be 
made this morning by the full Commission;  however, the road conditions are 
very icy this morning in  Nashville.
