I realize that the term "ignorant reporter" sounded harsh and all-inclusive, and I apologize. In defense of this reporter, I was talking pretty fast, and at least she cared enough to write an article on how to attract birds to your landscape. It would be poor form to slam someone who had an interest, and just made a couple of innocent mistakes. I have often had other reporters who do doublecheck with me (on plants, usually) before it goes to print. In fact, I joined this bird-chat group in order to double check some facts on the yellow billed cuckoo before I submitted my column on that fascinating bird....but this was after I had made a small ornithological faux pas on the wood stork in an earlier article.
