Schedule for Field Trips for this Saturday's TOS Spring Meeting in Nashville. All field trips will leave from the Steeplechase Inn at 7:00am. Signup sheets will be available at Registration Friday evening. Saturday & Sunday Trips: Radnor Lake: Jan Shaw will lead these trips to Radnor Lake State Natural Area. The mostly level ground walk will take 3-4 hours. Most any warbler species found in the Nashville Area could be encountered, as well as any vireo, tanagers, orioles, etc. Also Wood Duck, Green Heron, Osprey. Beaman Park: Kevin Bowden will lead these trips to Beaman Park, Metro's newest park in northwest Davidson County. A moderate 2.5 mile hike up Horton Hollow Trail should yield many warblers, including Worm-eating Warbler, as well as thrushes, vireos, and other spring migrants/residents. Every out-of-town birder should try to go on this trip. The field trip should take 3-4 hours. Saturday-only field trip: Natchez Trace Parkway Rob Lane will lead this trip to various spots on the Natchez Trace. There is a good mix of habitats along the Trace, so most anything in Middle Tennessee is possible! This trip will finish around 1:00 PM. Sunday-only field trip: Shelby Bottoms This field trip will go to Shelby Bottoms, a Metro Greenway. This is one of the best places in Nashville for migrating Mourning and Connecticut Warblers.
