Gentle Readers (and the rest of you), As I have told some of you recently, supporting documentation for rare bird records through about 1997 is in the special collections at the University of Tennessee, as are many other historic TOS papers. The rare bird documentation material includes the sighting forms submitted to the bird records committee, some photos (some of which have been published), some drawings, and the committee voting forms. Below is an inventory of this material. To add to some of the information posted by others: - The U.S. National Museum collection at the Smithsonian has a sizeable collection of Tennessee skins, most of which were collected by the Wetmore expedition in 1937. It also contains some earlier skins collected by A. H. Howell, as well as a scattering of stuff collected by others. - The H. O. Todd egg collection, housed for many years at University of the South in Sewanee, is now at the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology in Los Angeles. - The Cumberland Museum had a lot of Amelia Laskey's papers in the late 1980s/early 1990s. I don't know if they are still there.
