10.03.03 and 10.04.03 Marsh Creek Cove located off Tennessee River Perry County, TN We set anchor at 5 p.m. on Friday night, 10.03.03 in a quiet cove where Marsh Creek empties into the TN River. About a half hour later we watched as an Osprey brought a fish close to the top of a snag a couple of hundred feet away and fought with it a bit. The Osprey stayed put and fed as the sun set. The next morning when we awoke and were able to make out the treeline with daybreak, we saw that a dark figure remained in the same snag as the Osprey. Once the sun came out we were able to see that it was an Osprey, possibly the same as the night before. A Great Blue Heron flew over the Osprey at which time the Osprey stretched its wings and took off. Migration of Monarchs continued this past weekend with numbers being not as strong as the previous weekend, but steady. What a great view on the water with no vegetation in the way. The Monarchs seemed to have a distinct south west heading. At one point we saw 4 Monarchs crossing the river together, two of the four performing the 'butterfly dance' together as they fluttered by.
