November 2, 2012 Humphreys County, TN 7:45am Waterfowl everywhere on the Tennessee River near Pool 1, large rafts of coots, ducks, grebes, plus loons, pelicans, notables below: Gadwall American Wigeon Mallards, everywhere Northern Pintail Lesser Scaup Hooded Merganser Common Loon -6 at least Pied & Horned Grebes American White Pelicans Great Egrets Bald Eagle Peregrine Falcon American Coots-1,000+ easy Red-breasted Nuthatch in a group of pines near the boat ramp Interpretive Auto Loop area notables: 8:40am Greater White-fronted Geese Snow Goose Canada Geese Mallards all over the place Most of the same ducks seen on the river, plus Ring-necked duck Northern Shoveler Herring Gulls Winter Wren Bald Eagles Plus heard another Red-breasted Nuthatch Amazing morning on the refuge I was almost overwhelmed with all of the activity!
