Tony & Denise King and Gary & Alice Woody took a day-long birding trip,
covering Lenoir City, Sequatchie Valley, Ozone, and Kingston on Wednesday,
August 15. The Swallow-tailed Kites were working the ridge tops and skies above
the slaughter house on Rt. 127 and gave us grand looks. At the slaughter house,
we talked with another birder who had seen two Scissor-tailed Flycatchers on
Nine-Mile Road earlier in the day. Unfortunately, we did not see them this
trip. The folks at the slaughter house were very nice to, if somewhat amused
by, the birders stopping in their parking lot.
