A smudgy eye-stripe would be an unusual feature on either adult or immature
Swallow-tailed Kite. They usually have a solid white head. Could you give
more details on that feature?

Anyway a great find of a bird that will hopefully show up nesting in TN in
the future. It recently nested in Arkansas and has been reported in spring
and summer on two occasions in a bottomland area just 20-25 miles south of
Memphis.

Good Birding!!!
