Dunlap (Sequatchie Co.) and were able to locate it above Kelly Cross Road near the Cookie Jar Cafe at around 11:30am CST. I first saw it flying near a Turkey Vulture east of the Cafe sign. We pulled over next to the sign and Mom relocated it still to the east ~ 50 ft off the ground. It rose and circled directly above us for a minute or two. It was headed into the sun so I reached down to take a drink but couldn't locate it again. We drove around the area until about 2:45 CST but never saw it again. We decided to take a different way home to Knoxville and took HWY 111 out of the valley. While headed east on Rt. 30 btwn Dayton and Decatur we were crossing the Tennessee River on Washington Ferry Bridge (btwn Rhea and Meigs Counties) when we spotted another Swallow-Tailed Kite just to our left on the north side of the bridge! We turned around, went back to the west end of the bridge and pulled over. It soared maybe 200 ft above the road on the west side of the bridge for a few minutes before we lost it. This was around 3:40 EST. I am curious if it could be the same bird as it had been 3 hours since the Sequatchie bird. Probably not but hopefully future sightings will answer this. Great day.
