[TN-Bird] Surprising Great Horned Owls

We've lived in DeKalb County for almost 4 years without seeing a Great Horned
Owl although we've made no concerted effort to find one. But it was puzzling
that we had not come across one while frequently traveling the highways and
back roads of the county. Last night on our way to church we had 2 of them on
Route 70 within a couple miles of each other - one at the top of Snows Hill and
another just on the east side of Dowelltown, both sitting right beside the road
on utility wires. What an inspiring sight to see them silhouetted against the
sky at twilight! With a Northern Wheatear on Monday and two Great Horned Owls
on Sunday we'd say it was a pretty good birding week.
