A pair of Summer tanagers arrived at Beverly Park in North Knox County just off Tazewell Pike. We got good looks at the female who was calling as frequently as the male. A pair of Summer tanagers have resided in the park the previous 2 yrs., and are typically seen on the meadow trail upper half above the pond. 2 Eastern kingbirds were working the pond. These not-so-tyrant flycatchers were chased off by a male Red-winged blackbird. Also spooted were an Indigo bunting, Blue gray flycatcher, Chipping sparrows, Tree and Barn swallows. An Eastern bluebird flew out of a nesting box, grabbed an earthworm, then flew into a maple tree to finish it's meal. And, a male Hooded warbler was seen yesterday morning in our North Knox Cty back yard. Hummers arrived here later than usual on 4/20.
