According to recent eBird reports, seabirds are being found in substantial numbers to our south. Large numbers of Magnificent Frigatebirds are being reported on the coast of LA, MS, and AL, with dozens inland in southern Louisiana (21 on the LSU campus!). Additionally there are reports of a Red-billed Tropicbird on Lake Ponchartrain, Sooty Tern in Central LA (and dozens near the coast), and a few Bridled Terns. No skuas or tubenoses so far, however. Though I wouldn't expect anything like the Katrina fallout, an eye to the sky near the large lakes in TN for the next few days might be a very good idea!
