Standifer Gap Marsh, Chattanooga, Hamilton Co., TN
December 17, 2004
Virginia Rail,3, 2 near north end, first time in weeks (on the north end)

MARSH WREN, 1, West side of marsh, under power line, brush pile,
where we have seen one on and off for weeks

SEDGE WREN, 1, South end in tall grass, again where we have
been seeing one or more for weeks. Today it was making an
unusual noise, much lower in pitch than I have ever heard before,-
at first I thought I was hearing some rare duck or heron at a distance.

I have been inviting these wrens to stay until Count Day, tomorrow,
and I think they will oblige, but they are getting harder to find, quieter,
hiding more.
