October 24, 2002 Standifer Gap Marsh Chattanooga, TN Virginia Rail and Sora, at least 5 of each, at least 3 locations Tree Swallow (1), flying over marsh and parking lots for 15 minutes or more White-crowned Sparrow (1) LeConte's ??? Sparrow (3), the most obvious feature was a noticable yellow face (eye stripe and below eye), breast and sides buffy and finely streaked, belly clear. These birds did NOT seem wary; I was within 10 feet of them, in plain sight, for about 3 minutes or so. Along the east-west ditch between black top road and marsh, with scores of Song and Swamp Sparrows in every stage of maturity. Someone with sparrow experience should check this location!
