[TN-Bird] Standifer Gap Marsh

Standifer Gap Marsh, Chattanooga, Hamilton Co., TN
April 11, 2005
Least Bittern: 1, first of season

Green Heron: 3, my first of season

Mallard: 5th nest, female on 10 eggs, nest on old collapsed muskrat mound.
3rd nest, found 3/29 with 10 eggs, female on 6 eggs today, another egg 30 ft 
away had a half-developed young.

Canada Goose: 2 adults with 4 young, swam away from me, 1 young disappeared 
suddenly, as if caught by a fish or turtle, surfaced about 30 seconds later, 
apparently unharmed but badly frightened, swam fast to adult and stayed close.

Greater Yellowlegs: 1, on grass/mud near gravel road

Common Yellowthroat: 2 singing
