Victor just refound and confirmed a towhee that I found early this
morning while doing surveys as a female SPOTTED TOWHEE.
I had originally passed it off as a hybrid until I got home and reviewed
Sibley and some photos of other towhees and realized it had looked better
for a pure Spotted.
The location is Tumbling Creek Road just South of the intersection with
Willhite Road. (Exact location will be on ebird) All this area is private
property and heavily posted so the bird has to be close to the road or it
wouldn’t be visible. The brushy area it’s hanging in is also very large
which makes it more likely to stay but more difficult to find.
The windy conditions this afternoon made the bird very uncooperative and
there were still no photos last I heard.
