Just ran by Pellissippi State campus off Hardin Valley Rd in west Knox Co on my way to grab lunch to see if I could get the Snow Goose seen here recently as a count-week bird for this Saturday's Knoxville CBC (see how I worked that plug in?). No luck on the Snow Goose, but there was a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE (a.k.a., Speckle-belly) in with the Canadas. Also had an American Kestrel on the wire across from Firehouse (the sub shop, not the actual firehouse further down Hardin Valley Rd). Two male Hooded Mergansers made a brief stop at the pond off Cherahala Blvd this morning as seen from my office window. Yesterday I had 20-25 Northern Pintails fly over the house in a tight vee headed south along the ridgeline... narrowly missing count week.
