The female Scissor-tailed flycatcher appears to be incubating at a new nest in South Pittsburg. The nest is on the extreme southern end of the metal platform at the bottom of the northern most bank of field lights at the High School football field, right on the main drag! Indeed, her tail feathers can be observed sticking out of the nest from the main street. Johnny Parks spotted and followed the male to this site on Saturday. While no signs of a nest were visible at that time from any of various angles, he and I did observe the female gathering what apparently was nest material at the corner of the main street and the first street south of the football field,( which is 8th. St.), then flying to that position on the bank of lights. This morning she was sitting on an obvious nest, leaving it briefly to harass a passing crow, then shortly returning to the nest. __________________________________________________ I have been lucky enough to find an incredibly wonderful bird.
