I finally found the Sora at the Discovery Center in Murfreesboro this morning, thanks to a lead from Chloe Walker on where exactly it had been seen. I clearly just walked right by it on a couple previous visits. Anyway, I immediately found the bird early this morning. It foraged continuously only 1 - 12 feet away from me for over 2 hrs. I had to run back to the truck a couple times to get out of heavy down pours and lightning, but the sun eventually came out and the bird continued foraging in the same area. It was quite cooperative for photos and was not bothered by me standing on the boardwalk next to it. I posted a bunch of photos here for anyone interested: http://www.pbase.com/shoeman/sora_22_apr_11 I also had a couple of the local yellow-crowned night-herons and a male scarlet tanager. A Hermit Thrush sang a couple times. A northern waterthrush continued in the area as well. Great birding! Scott Somershoe State Ornithologist Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency P.O.
