Just to echo Chris about etiquette AND SAFETY... There is a turn lane just north of the interchange that can be used to make a U-turn. There is a gravel pass through the median just south of the interchange that can be used for a turnaround. PLEASE, if the bird is on the other side of the road, DRIVE to the turnaround and park on the other side. Please DO NOT cross the highway as a pedestrian! And when making your U-turn, don't make sudden lane changes; there's no hurry, the bird sits in the same spot for a long time if no one disturbs it and flushes it. Park entirely off the highway, as far as you can securely get, and ideally your feet should NEVER TOUCH the paved surface of the highway. I'm a trucker, big rigs use that highway quite a bit, and I cannot begin to impress upon you how unnerving (and UNSAFE) it is to have pedestrians anywhere near the side of a highway like that when you are in something 70 feet long, 9 feet wide, weighing 80,000 pounds with limited maneuverability, long stopping distance requirements, and a surprisingly strong wake suction. Not much point in getting a lifer if you then get yourself killed a few minutes later.
