There was a Snowy Egret feeding in two farm ponds on Prairie Chapel rd. just west of Gum Creek rd. (DeLorme p. 23 between B and C and 4 and 5. It was first on the pond nearest Gum Creek rd. and on the south side of Prairie Chapel, then apparently flew over my car (I did not observe this) to the second pond a few hundred feet west and on the north side of the road. At first I thought I might really have gotten lucky and actually seen a pair, but when I returned to the first pond there was no egret present. Furthermore, when I return later in the morning there was a Snowy on the westernmost pond but none on the other pond, which now instead had two Cattle Egrets in a bare tree on its bank, which represents a considerable reduction in "Egret value". __________________________________________________ I have been lucky enough to find an incredibly wonderful bird.
