26 Dec 2013 1:30-5:00pm Fort Campbell Montgomery Cty The Smith's Longspurs continued to be present in the same area providing nice looks and rattling calls for a small group today. Chad Smith, Terry Witt, and the Routledge family (Joanne, Larry, Cyndi, and Steve) were all able to make it out today to view the longspurs as they foraged and hid in the short grass and tire ruts. We were able to see 2 for sure, and possibly a third. The weather was chilly, clear, and very light wind making for great viewing conditions. Cyndi and Steve stayed to see 3 Short-eared Owls emerge from their ground roost and begin flying with the Northern Harriers, and occasionally perching.
