Location: TN, Shelby Farms Amph Walk Observation date: 11/6/10 Notes: 14 Memphis TOS members and friends participated today on a hike at Shelby Farms. A bit brisk this morning with frost waking most of us. Lots of activity in the trees and brush today. Bluejays on every path we took today. Towhee's concentrated on the bottom land which is bone dry along the one-way road from Patriot to Pine Lakes. Pine Warblers were a treat seen in the vicinity of the amphitheater and picnic area across the way with a good size mixed flock of Junco's, Bluebirds, Cardinals, and Sparrows.<br>Best bird of the day was the Barred Owl 25 ft away staring at us all with a mouse in it's beak and getting harassed by three Jays. None of us could get a picture off since we were so amazed that he was so close.
