Late in the day on Sunday, December 19th, while on a quick survey of the TN NWR Duck River Unit, Marilyn Burgess and I observed a Short-eared Owl on the ground in an open field, a first for this site. A nearby Northern Harrier on the ground nearby flew after it, chasing it around in a few circles before driving it away. The Harrier then returned to the same spot.
