July 14, 2005 Mississippi River Ensley Bottoms Shelby Co. TN After work, a late afternoon trip by the river produced a few Least Terns and a flight of 5 Black-necked Stilts heading mid-stream, down the river. On the sandbar, there were a few small peeps, mostly Least. At Ensley, I counted Killdeer, Black-necked Stilts on nests and 2 sets of young, 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, 3 Solitary Sandpipers, 1 Spotted SP, 23 Semipalmated Sandpipers, 13 Western SP, 385 Least SP and 2 Pectoral SP. The pits are the driest I've ever seen them. Good Birding!!! Jeff R. Wilson OL'COOT / TLBA Bartlett, TN
