A good Corp map is essential in birding along the river just to know what state you are in. When I found TN first state nesting of Tri-colored Heron on the west bank of the Mississippi, the Missouri wildlife people wanted it for their state. I had triangulated it and knew it was about 2-300 yards inside TN. They sent a plane and a boat down and I took them to the location. Their GPS put the nest securely inside TN ;o) Good Birding!!!
