Shelton Ferry WMA - Montgomery County, TN
For anyone planning on birding the bottoms around Shelton Ferry WMA be aware
that all of Shelton Ferry Rd in the bottoms is closed. There is a portion of
the road that runs along the edge of the river that has collapsed into the
water. Also, there is ongoing heavy agricultural machinery operating in the
bottoms. I’m not sure who is running the machinery or if it’s been contracted
through TWRA but a lot of the broomsedge and early successional habitat has
been cleared, burned, or bulldozed. If you come in on Southside Rd the large
wetland area is still accessible and if you make the sharp left on Lock B RD
South towards the boat ramp that end is open but most of the sparrow habitat is
Montgomery Co, TN
