On Saturday March 22nd, in addition to the usual residents, we sighted the following birds at various spots in Shelby Farms Park: Along the Wolf River (Lucius Birch Natural Area): Pine Warbler Ruby-Crowned Kinglet In the flooded demonstration fields along Germantown Road: Blue-winged Teal Bufflehead Ring-necked Ducks Gadwall Tree Swallows Purple Martins In the pine forest north of Pine Lake: Pine Warbler White-Eyed Vireo Yellow-Throated Vireo Ruby-crowned Kinglet Golden-crowned Kinglet Red-breasted Nuthatch Great Horned Owl Purple Finch Hermit Thrush We saw all the woodpeckers, including a Pileated, except we could not find any Red-Heads. There were also a Blue-winged Teal and Gadwall in Pine Lake. Earlier this week I saw a Barn Swallow in the Buffalo field near the main entrance.
