Today, 18 TWRA wildlife officers and land managers attending a 3-day workshop led by Dr. Fred Alsop of ETSU birded along the Mississippi River in Shelby County, Tennessee. The group observed 110 species of birds, with highlights being an adult male Scissor-tailed Flycatcher at Eagle Lake WMA, two Western Kingbirds at TVA power plant at Ensley Bottoms, and four male Painted Buntings singing at one time along the river just south of the power plant. At Eagle Lake, more than 50 Mississippi Kites were visible at once. Michael Roedel, State Ornithologist Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency P.O.
